That was fairly sick, my good sir. You have a good tone in your voice, and your flow is powerful yet smooth as silk. Like a tornado of bedsheets. Or some shit like that.

Anyway, for this being your first mixtape, this ain't bad at all. I'm really not an R&B kind of guy, I'm mostly a metalhead. But this would make a believer outta me :D

thanx man i'll b posting more songs check em out and give me sum more feedback

    Just fyi

I consider it an achievement that my song beat yours out for Best of the Week. Sorry dude, but I kind of have to. I mean... you write hilarious (sometimes) flashes and I still got above you.

But... After listening to this song, really... Man you could take an extraordinary loud shit with your microphone in the bathroom and get top 5. You must actually have laughed when you noticed this got Best of the Week. I know you've got a sense of irony (Not to be confused with the Hipster's skewed retarded understanding of what Irony truly is) and understand that tons of fucking people here on the Audio Portal work their asses off for their music. And then you beat all of them out with a kazoo.

I will admit that you've written some killer tunes before, and the melodies actually make sense and whatever, but... dude. Kazoos. Beating all the rest of the music on Newgrounds from this week.

So yeah, that's my 2 cents that you'll read, probably chuckle inwardly, consider responding and think of something, decide it's not interesting enough for an entire response, then move on to the next review that gives you a 10 and contains no real reason within the review itself.

(Lots of alcohol made this review possible. Thank you, Lord Sir Vodka and your sidekick, Just Regular Fucking Beer)

    Oney responds:

1: you are far up your own ass
2: i know people work hard on their music, i did not know this would get best of the week, nor do i give a shit
3: the users vote, not me
4: i didn't inwardly chuckle, i asked myself how people can be so stupid and far up their own ass
5: i read all negative reviews first, i practically ignore the 10s. assume you know me, make yourself look like a retard

    Your title. It's perfect.

Wow. Way to capture the feel of the hit anime "Super Hyper Happy Kitty Kiichan GO!". I really liked that one.

Hah, but seriously this was enjoyable but way too saccharine for my tastes. It's like a sugarplum dipped in sugar-coated sugar and sugared with cocain- err... I mean sugar :D

I do like the crossing synth lines, that was pretty terrific. The bass doesn't really spaz out and go total hyperpowered though, which is half of what I enjoy when I listen to this kind of music.

    GrayZ responds:

haha wow, burn7 commenting on my work. -faints-

and I remember that anime! hahaha bloody japanese ;) and yeahh coca-sugar! :) thanks so much for the review,

also! I've started none stop playing my guitar, soon as I get a soundcard, I want atleast a jam with you! If not a collab ;)

    I like this one too.

But not quite as much as your second development :P

Sorry I have a lot less to say on this one, as my time here is running short. I did, however, "Like" you on Facebook. So that should count as something :D

    ThermalLaser responds:

Yea yea yea! Cool Shit man! Thanks for joining the Facebook revolution! ....

I honestly forget about that facebook page.... I should do something with it....

    Fairly Sexy, Good Sir.

I love your tunes because you keep the emphasis on melody and structure rather than a heavy beat and a repetitive bassline. It's really refreshing to listen to songs like this, and it fills my heart with hope for the future of the Audio Portal.

The main melody that appears throughout the song is interesting and awesome enough to have me listen to the song a few more times than I thought I was going to. I liked your choice of synths and instrumentation, pretty much everything here is sexytastic.

I'm only giving you a 9 because I felt like the end buildup was really great, but there was no payoff afterwards. The spiraling ending decrescendo was not enough for the epic runway you gave this song, man. I was hoping for a comeback final chorus with an intricate counter-melody or maybe just a little tingy synth playing a harmony part over it... You can't just leave me hanging like that! You've gotta make your stuff more than win at simply existing, make it take off into the sky and become something more than just music. It has to become an ideology, a religion, a lifestyle... something people can look back to in 20 years and think "I'm glad I lost my virginity to this song.".

Come on, give me a big KA BLAM MOTHAFUCKUH at the end of this unprecedented journey of sonic intensity.

(And yeah I do realize that 2:08 is your finale section and not everything has to be to my own standards. But I'm doing the goddamned review goddammit, so I'll goddamn do whatever I goddamn please.)

(Also, I will now go check out 'Bearskin I')

    ThermalLaser responds:

Yo Burn7! Thanks my man I'm glad you enjoy my tunes! I got a new one im working on for that big Newgrounds collab CD. It's going to be good. Just working on it around my 'effing college work. You and I need to collab on some heavy shit sometime man! We're reinventing the Portal! Let's bring back the portals dignity! *cough* Excuse me....

Yeah... the first cut of this song was made for a music class project. Sharing it with the class was an interesting moment....hahaha!

LOL! I'm going to make a burn7 edition! I want people to look back 20 years from now and think "I'm glad I lost my virginity to this song."lol! You'll get your big KA BLAM MOTHAFUCKUH!

"Summary Too Short" my ass, Newgrounds.

This thing is pretty sick, I like it quite a bit.

You consider putting a hard EQ over your VoX to try and get them to stand out a little more in the mix over the other instruments? I noticed that a good amount of your samples/vsti's are very sinewave-intensive, and are all quite "sharp" (Presentation-wise, not tuning-wise).

Also, Auto-Tune is an unpracticed singer's best friend. Sure, it really is kind of cheating. But it wouldn't hurt to throw a gentle push in the right direction using Antares' nice little trinket. I'm not saying to go full T-Pain and go for the full pitch correction, but if use a gentle 50ms delayed tune on there, it would really help out.

Not saying your vox are bad, because they're definitely better than what I could do. But it never hurts to add just a little bit more :)

Still, very nice overall. I've listened to it through and through twice now, and I like it quite a bit. It's totally not my thing usually, but I really like it.

Don't stop Rahmmy, you da bestest :3

    SoulSecure responds:

Naw, the vocals got mixed in too loud because of the -6 dB mixing device I put on last minute. The only samples used were the drums. Everything else is live instruments or noises I made/recorded and tweaked with, so they aren't really samples. (2013 edit: I meant that they aren't from a database of samples)

Oh no, I'm not unpracticed, I was being extremely lazy in the vocal department because I was pissed off at my microphones. They'll be redone once I get a new mic.

    No, they are bad, haha.

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the review!

Background or foreground, this song works it well.

I really enjoyed the melodic elements, beat was really tight and the synths were well done and the sounds were nice.

The fact that you use variation in your kick rhythm gives me hope for the future of techno. It's something that has just fallen by the wayside in a lot of music nowadays, and I think you did a good job with it.

If I might make a suggestion, I would say to use a few EQ's on your synths to give them more depth and feel. Right now they all seem very... flat, I suppose. They sound damn good melodically and sonically, but aesthetically they just seem like they could use a slight boost somewhere in the higher ranges, like between 4-8khz, and maybe even up to like 11-15khz. I know this was only done in like 4 hours, but some good mixing and mastering on this song could really turn it gold.

It's a damn good song, and I'm excited to see what else you put out :)

    Chaotichism responds:

To me, rhythm is the better half of industrial music. Well, most genres, in my opinion. I tried to really make this sound like something you'd hear at a club - hence the name of the song, haha - and I felt like I got it, for the most part. But after listening to it a few times, I HATED the strings. I need to work on them. (Badly, I might add. Heh.)

In regards to the synth, I'm starting to notice that it needs some work, too. I may need to look into that. Though I can put notes together, mastering and mixing are something I'm trying to get better at. I'll check out some tutorials on getting that perfect synth because I really need to improve on this one.

Thanks for the review and the great advice; hopefully by this weekend I'll have something better. Haha.

    Hey guess what.

I liked this song. It was fucking weird. Seriously out of my range of tastes, but the melodic bits without the bassy synth really got my attention.

It eventually starts to sound like fakie dubstep tho, and I HATE dubstep. So minus 1 star.

I also like your FX at 2:19 on your basslines. I kinda lol'd, I love when people infuse music with slightly comical elements.

Anyway, have fun with your song on the weekly "All Time Top Scoring" list. Kick some ass!

    EricFreeman responds:

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy it. And yeah, most of my songs are pretty weird and probably out of a lot of
    peoples' tastes.

And what's to hate about Dubstep? It actually takes more work to produce than pretty much every other genre I've experimented with. I understand what you mean if you just dislike drums and a wobble bass because honestly that sounds pretty bad, however I think I pull off a more "musical" dubstep with some of my other songs. :P

And just so you know I have three songs on the All Time Top Scoring list this week. ;)

I like make the sound go "bwaaaww"
