Dude! This has some real potential! I can like almost hear exactly what you were going for here. Have you ever heard of MBR (Master Boot Record)? Cause I feel like maybe their halfway between metal and hard electronic vibe may work super well for what this is going for.

I'd love to hear what you could do if you sent that synth through a real amp sim like Neural DSP Nolly or Rabea with some chugs on the sides. But I dig it!

Dig it! I do think it needs a bit more bass groove and some spatial awareness between the different instruments/frequencies but I like where it's going! I think my favorite bits are the solo-ish sections, those are really good and I'd encourage you to explore more melodic expression like that.

HEROICIS responds:

Thanks for the feedback! This song is probably 8 months to a year old at this point, but the original its based on is from like 2-3 years ago. I'm glad you liked it!

Solid work! I can tell there's some emotion in the note choice and thought behind some of the sections.

Would highly recommend looking into a bit more EQ focus, stuff like that synth that comes in at 0:48 could really do without the low end. Or the... I think it's a guitar or an electric organ? At 3:14, it doesn't really cut through with everything else going on.

Also maybe try experimenting with some slow automation of FX, building into something unique. I'm thinking that reprise at 1:53 could use some background ambience, something like wind swells or other heavily verbed tones just adding to the vibe. Perhaps some low and slow phasers or something on the piano that you automate the mix on over time, just something extra to breathe some life into the progression a bit.

But really though, solid job!

DunciFlipz responds:

Thx, I do have the project opened up still so I will start tinkering with it more. The sound at 3:14 is a modified sawtooth wave that I filtered(Probably need to filter it more, give it more reverb and put a compressor on it).

I'm also going to experiment with what you said "Wind Swells", Which can be done by using a noise channel going in to a slow rate phaser being automated by 0.25 semitones of pitch control.

But yeah, Glad you like it. ^^

Very solid work! I like the mixing quite a bit, the kick under the bassline is solid for the lows (only complaint is the bassline itself could be slightly SLIGHTLY more prominent imo but this is personal preference) and the keys have just the right amount of upper-midrange to lay a solid background foundation at all times.

But I also dig the composition and arrangement! Very jazz, very chill.

I dig this. It's weird and eclectic. There's something weird going on with the stompy sounds I can't really identify but solid work!

This is pretty cool dude! Definitely some Doom 2016 vibes for sure. I do like the way your crunchy synths sit on top of your guitars, probably the best part for me imo. Would suggest trying some microtonal/chromatic ascends/descends if you're gonna aim for mick gordon-ish stuff.

Plus it's just fun to play with :D

Ah, yes. Some of the best of the heavies on NG.

Damn good, sirs. The riffs are heavy and clean, the vox are Divine Heresy but better.

Goddamn great job and grats on the fp!

DanJohansen responds:

Thanks man! A lot of love put into this doom haha rock on! ]m/

Shit dawg the drum mixing on this is just superb.

Oh, yeah I mean I guess your ridiculous guitarwork probably should be mentioned also but THOSE DRUMS.

Seriously though, this is very Chunk! No Captain Chunk-esque and I dig the hell out of it. I can very nearly hear the Periphery/ADTR vox sections throughout this. Damn fine, matey. Damn fine.

BeyondOurEyes responds:

Ayee thanks for the love! Haha I spent a lot of time getting those drums just right, glad you dig the sound of em!

Yo this is really good! It reminds me of the vibe FTL's soundtrack carries while still being... modern? The ambiance/drones in the background are really good and somehow my favorite part I think? Either that or the freneticism of 2:02 which just has some damn good energy.

But pretty dang good mixing on this makes it overall very solid. Kind of put my brain in a trance listening to it.

OH shit yeah dude! This is great!

Super massive drums in the intro, those were damn killer. And your harsh vox cut through SUPER well, this is an impressive mix dude.

Your vocals remind me of like a younger Dividian-era Machine Head vocal style, a bit more raw with a bit more passion. The growl/yell at 2:41 was especially good and reminiscent of that style.

Your kick/bass/guitar balance is fantastic, the kick cuts through damn well. My only complaint/recommendation is I think the vocals could be reigned in just a touch in the high freq and the cymbal/hat programming on the drums could use some love to give it more life but it's otherwise REALLY well done.

FarFromSundown responds:

Thank you so much for checking it out and leaving such an awesome review! I've always loved your work so your words mean alot! Would love to work together on a collab sometime if you're ever down!

I like make the sound go "bwaaaww"
