Trippin

Cool, but a pretty different style than what I would do. As seen in the Version 2.

ForestLomn responds:

And as seen from the scores of when these songs first came up, yours was liked a lot more. Thats why im working to finish that version.

THAT'S ME!

:)

Great review, I know.

ForestLomn responds:

Ha ha yes thank you for the comment. No one else saw fit to comment, so yours is much appreciated.

Nice, original.

Was pretty cool, I liked the breakbeat in the beginning that eventually turned into a steady one. Nice job. If there was one thing that I would say to do to this song, it would be to further differentiate the lead from the rest of the song by raising it by one octave, or adding a duplicate track to the lead one octave higher for the second portion of the song.

I'm Confused...

... as to why this has such a low rating. Because it's fucking incredible. Describes sadness perfectly, a state that I often have trouble describing musically. But you goddamn nailed it here. Mistakes, edited ending, whatever. It doesn't even matter because this is frigging amazing.

I, for one, am kind of annoyed wen people review my music with "WOW This is amazing! Thanks!!!", because they don't even understand everything that went into it. And although I do realize you havnt done much mastering or whatever, this is still fucking grand.

I honestly wish this would get the credit and attention it deserves, but because it's not techno, it will be ignored here on NG unless by some miracle it gets into the Top 5/"Best of All Time".

The one bright side to spiraling endless depression is that you have plenty of inspiration to express your dreary, painful feelings in any way you can to try and scrape the torment out from within.

darbyjack responds:

Words of wisdom.

I am also a little disappointed with the somewhat low rating, compared to some other work on here. But oh well... That's music for you. Same thing applies to the Jonas Brothers - people sure do listen to crap these days!

Thanks a lot.

Jack.

EDIT: Rating seems to be not too bad now...

Cool, but lacking.

I like this a lot, but you're missing a kind of key element: The bassline. At least from what I remember, there was a bass kind of keeping it movin' along. Really feels like it's missing the bass. If there was some sort of bass in there I would approve wholeheartedly.

Regardless, this was absolutely true to the original. And for that I say 4/5, 7/10.

Very nice...

...and by "nice" I mean creepy. Yet still freaking awesome. I might... like... maybe... "Borrow" some of this and use it as an intro to a metal song I was doing. If I do end up actually encorporating this into a song, then I will of course ask you first.

But anyway, I really love how this works so well. It sounds extremely... smooth. Especially for something so sinister

TheLizardofOdd responds:

Thank you! I would not mind if you 'borrow' some, so long as you re-orchestrate it to fit your song and give me credit. :) I would love to hear this swap over into some heavy metal. XD

"Hello my husband died...

And left me with $3.2M and I am without throne or heir."

Those emails make me laugh.

Anyway I liked this song other than the whole... it being a grand total of 1:30... but still, sometimes the best things in life are given in small amounts.

Like orgasms. Or... Cookies. Or...

... Fuck it, I'm just gonna stick with orgasms.

Ironically Hilarious

It kinda makes me laugh that you put the words "Tetris", "Zelda", or "Mario" in the name of any song and it gets fucking popular fucking fast.

Anyway this was pretty cool, but I have pretty much heard every tetris mix ever (Not like that's even possible or anything) and I can't honestly say that anything really stood out in this mix. But I don't think thats really what you were going for anyway so it's cool and does what it tries to well.

Yessss

Perfect, man! :D You should let me know where this game is going to be so I can try it out!

DrummerExtro responds:

hahahaha! Thanks man ill let you know.

Very nice.

So far, I think this is way cool. I don't really listen to trance as much anymore, but I used to a whole lot. And if I had this song back then I would most definitely have listened to it until I got tired of having it stuck in my head.

----Thoughts/Ideas----

At 1:56 you need a crash cymbal to indicate the beginning of the full entrance of the lead. Crash cymbals really make a big difference.

Maybe after the one lead dies off at 2:40, you could keep the bassline and other synths still there and the kick continuing, and expand upon the melody introduced at 1:18. Then bring back the lead that dropped off, and just keep it up.

Also, try and add some occasional variety in there. Either with the beat, or with the lead. Because, to me at least, it really shows that the mixer cares about keeping their audience interested.

Right now that's all I've got. I know how frustrating writer's/musician's block can be, and I'm pretty sure you'll work through it.

DjDub-E responds:

Perfect review and great advice. Thanks for the input.

I like make the sound go "bwaaaww"
